Session 05

📍 Location

The Mournland coast, the waters toward Aruldusk, and Angwar Keep in Thrane.

⚔️ What Happened

The snipers opened fire, and the battle initially looked disastrous. Dren went down, followed by Renoir, but the party recovered, closed the distance, and eliminated the threat. They decided that they would either finish the boat that day or abandon the attempt and flee on foot. The attackers appeared to be scouts for a larger force sent by the Lord of Blades, whose followers had picked up the trail of the secret briefcase.

With great effort, M.A.7.7 assembled a raft, and the party set out toward Aruldusk, the nearest city. The weather turned against them. A violent storm swept Karsus overboard, and the others barely managed to pull him from the raging sea.

Exhausted, battered, and adrift after the storm, they spotted a Thrane caravel. It quickly intercepted them, and soldiers boarded the raft. The captain demanded their cooperation: anything emerging from the Mournland had to be searched and quarantined.

A doctor aboard the caravel treated and questioned them. The party revealed little beyond the fact that they had been aboard an airship and had met M.A.7.7 afterward. They eventually docked at a fortress near their original destination and repeated the same account before being taken to Angwar Keep. There they encountered more elite warforged, this time serving Thrane.

During an interrogation by Chief Darion, the party finally explained everything, including the briefcase and Ferris d’Cannith. It soon ceased to matter: forces of the Lord of Blades attacked the keep.

The party was initially locked inside the interrogation room. A soldier later released them, ordered them to carry the briefcase far away, and gave them explosives to collapse the escape tunnel behind them. They climbed to the walls, moved north through the fighting, and descended a tower toward the secret passage.

Before escaping, they saw a literal giant of a warforged emerge from the sea, its body covered in blades. This terrifying apparition of the Lord of Blades rose from the water as though it were nothing and led an entire platoon of elite warforged in a charge against the fortress.

The party fled into the tunnel, detonated the explosives, and was left in complete darkness.
