Session 12
- Date
📍 Location
Fairhaven, including Jorlanna d’Cannith’s residence, The Lantern & Latch, and the smuggling tunnels beneath it.
⚔️ What Happened
Jorlanna d’Cannith summoned the party to a private meeting and revealed why she wished to hire them. She had a son named Tavrin, hidden for years, who bore an aberrant dragonmark of considerable power. To protect him, Jorlanna had organized a discreet operation using a trusted group of her best military operatives, intending to bring him to safety without drawing attention.
The operation failed. House Tarkanan learned of the mission in advance. Every operative except Maren Holt was killed. Some, it later emerged, had tried to negotiate with Tarkanan for a greater reward and paid for that mistake with their lives. Tavrin fled when the operatives found him and was now missing somewhere in Fairhaven.
Maren, the contracted guard who had accompanied the party from Delafelden, confirmed these events under magical verification of truth. According to her, Tavrin remained in the city and was hiding.
Jorlanna offered a simple contract: find Tavrin before House Tarkanan and bring him back safely. The reward was one thousand gold pieces.
The party accepted and began investigating. Their clues led to The Lantern & Latch, a disreputable tavern in the older part of Fairhaven. Beneath it, they found a network of smuggling tunnels and evidence that someone had recently passed through: wine stolen from the tavern, a bloody dagger embedded in a wall, and a map of the catacombs with areas marked in charcoal.
House Tarkanan had arrived first. The party followed the trail.
